Overview
The Crop Science Graduate Program at USP/ESALQ was created in 1968, initially with a Maste's (MSc) level, and since 1986 also with a Doctorate (DSc) level.
The Program has the objective to graduate highly skilled professionals for Teaching and Research activities in Crop Science (crop production).
A high employment rate of our alumni is verified both in the public and private sectors. Our faculty is committed to the formation of qualified professionals (with emphasis in developing Science and Technology considering ethical values) in order to attend sustainability requirements from society and the productive sector.
The Crop Science Grad Program supports multidisciplinary and international activities for Brazilian and foreign Students (Central and South America – Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Equator, Honduras, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela; European Community – Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Turkey; North America: Canada, Mexico and United States; Asia: Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand; Africa: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa and Togo; Australia.
Scope
The Crop Science Graduate Program offers: (i) excellence level professionals responsible and compromised with the mission to develop Science and Technology linked to reality, and (ii) basic and applied research, focused on the transformation of agriculture sciences into benefits to society, in consonance with ethical, social, environmental and economical values and focused in a sustainable agriculture.
Objective
- Training of professionals, Master’s and Doctor’s level in Plant Science, dedicated to teaching and research in the area of Agricultural Sciences
- Technology generation in the area of Agricultural Sciences, through basic and applied research (Theses and Dissertations)

Accreditation
The graduate program in Plant Pathology is accredited by CAPES, a governmental organization which is responsible for assessing and accrediting higher education institutions in Brazil, with a grading scale ranging 1-7, where 7 is the maximum score. In the most recent triennial assessment (2010-2012), the Crop Science program scored 6.
Digital library of theses and dissertations
Theses and dissertations defended at the University of São Paulo starting in 2001 have been made available for online research and download. The project is associated with the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD), sponsored by UNESCO and provides the option of browsing the Crop Science program catalog by thesis, dissertation, author or college.
