Objective
To present and discuss the context of Precision Agriculture seen as a set of techniques that allow the
management of crops considering their spatial and temporal variability. The monitoring steps for
diagnosing the possible causes of this variability, its relationship to possible causes and localized
interventions are addressed, focusing on yield mapping, monitoring and mapping of plant and soil
attributes, the use of sensors and site-specific application of inputs. Technologies related to the subject
are also addressed, such as GNSS, GIS and machine automation.
Content
1. Introduction to precision agriculture, conceptualization and history.
2. Positioning systems, "Global Navegation Satellite Systems" (GNSS), systems composition, error sources, receivers, differential correction methods; applications in the field and in ag machinery.
3. Yield mapping, equipment, data treatment, yield maps.
4. Monitoring the spatial variability of soil attributes, sampling for the analysis of soil physical and chemical characteristics, sampling methods, basic concepts of geostatistics for spatial variability modeling.
5. Direct and remote sensing, state of the art in soil and plant sensors to evaluate crop variability.
6. Dedicated Geographic Information Systems (GIS), data analysis and processing.
7. Equipment and techniques for site-specific treatments.
